On May 14, 2018 at 5pm at Brooklyn Borough Hall, CodeBrooklyn, a campaign of the office of Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams to bring computer science education to all Brooklyn schools will hold a year end computer science education in schools celebration.

Schools in the borough will be honored that not only participated in last December’s Computer Science Education week, but additionally 1) engaged with the community about their event, whether that was on line or with their families and neighbors by inviting them to participate, and 2) created a “Beyond the Hour of Code” roadmap to help school leadership, teachers, SLTs, PTAs, parents and the overall school community make computer science durable at their school throughout the year and available to as many students as possible. Approximately 30 schools will be participating.

In addition to participating schools, representatives of various organizations and nonprofits working to expand computer science education, including CS4All, Digital Girl, Girls Who Code, The Learnatory, Codesters, Black Girls Code, and Sankofa Global will be on hand to talk about their CS education programs. Various representatives of the technology industry, including developers, will be joining as well to speak about how they learned to code and how they use computer science in their life.
